Stuart Thom

Although born in Thurso, Stuart spent most of his childhood in Melrose before heading to University in Aberdeen where he played for Aberdeen Grammar in the then National Leagues. During his year in industry, he played a season at London Scottish. After finishing his degree Stuart travelled to New Zealand, Australia and Canada essentially playing rugby before returning to Scotland in 1995, spending a year with Boroughmuir before returning to his home club of Melrose where he stayed until he joined Stewart’s Melville early 2000’s.

Stuart and his family moved to Belfast in 2015 and he managed to play three seasons with CIYMS. He ended is rugby “career” to focus on charity events to support his friend Doddie, who was diagnosed with MND in 2016. Since 2018 Stuart has planned many events in support of the My Name’5 Doddie foundation.

In 2022 Stuart became an Ambassador for the foundation and continues to plan events to help raise awareness and funds for the Foundation to help find the cure.
